The AAACU Summer Enrichment Program 2026 will bring together undergraduate students in agriculture and agriculture-related disciplines from across the Asian Region for an immersive, two-week academic and cultural experience hosted by the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS). From July 20 to 31, 2026, participants will engage in a rich blend of learning activities, cultural exchange, and exposure to agricultural innovation in the Philippines.

The program will open on July 20 with a warm welcome ceremony at UPLB, followed by a guided tour of the UPLB campus, allowing students to explore its historic landmarks, research facilities, and vibrant university environment. This first day sets the tone for a meaningful and collaborative learning journey.

In the days that follow, participants will take part in a series of lectures and seminars led by experts in agriculture, sustainability, and related fields. These sessions are designed to broaden students’ perspectives, deepen their understanding of current issues, and encourage interdisciplinary dialogue. A lively Cultural Night will also be held, giving students the opportunity to share and celebrate their diverse traditions through performances, food, and creative expression.

A major component of the enrichment experience is the set of university visits to partner institutions known for their agricultural research and development. Participants will travel to:

These visits will showcase ongoing agricultural innovation projects, giving students firsthand exposure to cutting-edge technologies, community-based initiatives, and collaborative research efforts across the Philippines.

The student participants will likewise have the valuable opportunity to visit three of the country’s premier research institutions: the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech). For many of the students—especially those coming from state universities and colleges—this visit represents a rare and meaningful chance to see firsthand the nation’s leading research and development efforts in livestock improvement, rice science, and postharvest innovation. The experience is expected to broaden their academic perspectives, deepen their appreciation of Philippine agricultural research, and inspire future engagement in science and technology for national development.

A special visit will also be made to Benguet State University (BSU), the historic birthplace of the Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU), established in 1972 during the holding of the Second Agricultural College and University Seminar. This stop offers participants a meaningful connection to the organization’s roots and its continuing mission to advance agricultural education in Asia.

The program will conclude with student reflection sessions and group presentations, during which participants will synthesize their learning experiences and share insights gained throughout the two-week engagement.

Participants will depart on August 1, bringing home not only new knowledge and skills but also lasting friendships and a deeper appreciation for regional collaboration in agricultural development.
